    School Philosophy

At Alex Janvier School, we strive to support each member of our school community in flourishing and becoming the best possible version of themselves. We approach this work through different avenues including the arts, athletics, service and leadership, but we never lose sight of the importance of developing the academic foundation that will serve our students well throughout their schooling and beyond.

We have chosen the following character traits to focus on during the 2022-23 school year.  Traits that define being Janvierian are:

    • Kind
    • Hardworking
    •  Responsible
    • Courageous
    • Perseverant
    • Self-Disciplined

    We believe:

    • Our school must be a place where everyone feels safe and a sense of belonging.
    • Each of us plays an active role in creating a vibrant and caring school community.
    • We all have a need for competence and want to experience success.
    • We can influence how things turn out and effort is an important factor in determining success.
    • We hold each other to high expectations, while ensuring that the necessary supports are in place to meet them.
    • we ground our decisions and practices in evidence-based research and cognitive science.

Pre-enrolment for 2024-25

Pre-enrol in SchoolZone

Get ready for the 2024–25 school year! Sign in to your parent SchoolZone account between February 1 and March 22 to select your child’s preferred school for next year.

Whether your child is staying at the same school or changing schools, all students need to pre-enrol. Knowing how many students to expect helps schools prepare to welcome them in September.

If you need help, contact the school or read the pre-enrolment handout

Moved?
Update your child’s current address with the school office before pre-enrolling in SchoolZone.

New to the Division?
Instead of using SchoolZone, students who are new to Edmonton Public Schools need to submit a completed Student Registration form. Find the form and list of supporting documents you need to provide.

BOUNDARIES

Some Division schools nearing capacity may close their boundaries. These decisions are made when space is limited and only resident students within a school’s designated attendance area can attend. Schools with closed boundaries are at Level 2 on the Growth Control Model.

For the 2024 - 2025 school year, Alex Janvier School is full in planned classes the Arts Core program. We will only accept resident students in Grades 4 to 9 whose parent(s)/legal guardian(s) have newly moved into the school’s attendance area for the Arts Core program. A resident student of Edmonton Public Schools has at least one parent or legal guardian living in Edmonton who is not Roman Catholic. Non-resident students can enrol in another Division school with space in planned classes.

Alex Janvier is a closed boundary school, at all Grade levels. As outlined in Division Regulations, the only new students accepted to our school are:

* Resident students who live within the attendance area (please feel free to check on the EPSB website or call us to confirm if you are within our attendance area).

* Siblings of current students who will be returning to the school the following year.

If the student you are registering or pre-enrolling meets one of the above criteria for the 2023-2024 school year, please register them online (new students) or pre-enroll through SchoolZone (existing students).

Following the close of pre-enrollment at 4:00pm on March 22, 2024, the school will only accept resident students who have newly moved into the attendance area.

Alex Janvier gives these words of advice to our students.

"Success is a very important word.”

“It's up to the teachers and students to put it together to make Alex Janvier School a wonderful place for learning."

"We have the right to a beautiful freedom."

"My inspiration for the young people, I wish them fully the ability to reach that freedom and inspiration for who they are."

And a final word of advice “Stay in School.”
