    School Philosophy

At Alex Janvier School, we strive to support each member of our school community in flourishing and becoming the best possible version of themselves. We approach this work through different avenues including the arts, athletics, service and leadership, but we never lose sight of the importance of developing the academic foundation that will serve our students well throughout their schooling and beyond.

    We believe:

    • Our school must be a place where everyone feels safe and a sense of belonging.
    • Each of us plays an active role in creating a vibrant and caring school community.
    • We all have a need for competence and want to experience success.
    • We can influence how things turn out and effort is an important factor in determining success.
    • We hold each other to high expectations, while ensuring that the necessary supports are in place to meet them.
    • we ground our decisions and practices in evidence-based research and cognitive science.

Terry Fox Run

We started start off our new school year by helping our community, getting active, and raising funds for cancer research.  Students took part in our Terry Fox Run on September 22nd.   The highlight was watching AJ students give a special treat to AJ staff!  Check our social media channels for highlights of the event

SCHOOL SUPPLY LISTS for 2022-2023

BOUNDARIES

Some Division schools nearing capacity may close their boundaries. These decisions are made when space is limited and only resident students within a school’s designated attendance area can attend. Schools with closed boundaries are at Level 2 on the Growth Control Model.

Alex Janvier is a closed boundary school, at all Grade levels. As outlined in Division Regulations, the only new students accepted to our school are:

* Resident students who live within the attendance area (please feel free to check on the EPSB website or call us to confirm if you are within our attendance area).

* Siblings of current students who will be returning to the school the following year.

If the student you are registering or pre-enrolling meets one of the above criteria for the 2022-2023 school year, please register them online (new students) or pre-enroll through SchoolZone (existing students).

Following the close of pre-enrollment at 4:00pm on April 14, 2022, the school will only accept resident students who have newly moved into the attendance area.

Alex Janvier gives these words of advice to our students.

"Success is a very important word.”

“It's up to the teachers and students to put it together to make Alex Janvier School a wonderful place for learning."

"We have the right to a beautiful freedom."

"My inspiration for the young people, I wish them fully the ability to reach that freedom and inspiration for who they are."

And a final word of advice “Stay in School.”
